Sheldon and Geni's 2018 Trip to Alaska
Today is: August 01
We woke up in: Surrey, BC We're going to sleep in: Surrey, BC

Shel: We had studied taking public transportation into Vancouver, but it became complicated. You had to buy bus tickets and then Skytrain tickets but had to know what zones you were going to, we had no idea. We drove in and found a lot near the waterfront, easy! Did some walking in the old section and on the waterfront. Then got in the truck and toured Stanley Park. Left at rush hour, so took a while to get back to the camper.

Geni: Researched public transportation all night and then in the morning decided to take the truck and see what happens. So glad we did. Walked around shopping areas, the waterfront and chinatown and went to Stanley Park. Caught some of the highlights of Vancouver. . . enough to satisfy us. It's lovely, but crowded and lots of traffic - so different from where we've been. Maybe going from Vancouver to Alaska is better than the other way around.

Instead of chimes, the steam clock blows its tune on steam whistles.

Entrance to China Town - walked around to find New Town bakery to get a snack

Neat photo taken from Stanley Park: cruise liner leaving port, paddle wheel tour boat returning to shore and two float planes, one landing and one taking off

Beautiful, colorful totem poles at Stanley Park
