Sheldon and Geni's 2018 Trip to Alaska
Today is: July 2 (18,090)
We woke up in: Fairbanks, AK We're going to sleep in: Fairbanks, AK

Shel: We changed campgrounds. We were 10 miles out of town in a rustic campground and decided to move into town. Camping in the parking lot of Pioneer Park. Roland needed water so we stopped at a pump station - the nozzle of the hose was so big it wouldn't fit in the tank opening - made for a fun experience. We visited a pipeline viewing area, went to a car museum, and then went into Pioneer Park. BTW, it is very nice that gas is only $3.419 per gallon! Tomorrow it is off to the Arctic Circle.

Geni: Enjoyable day, not driving all day. Visited Antique Car Museum and what I enjoyed were all the women's outfits on mannequins near the old cars. The material and styles were amazing and the women sizes were all very petite. Day dresses, gowns, bathing suits, evening gowns. Of course the women who owned these dresses were upper class and wore the day dresses while telling the maids what chores needed to be done! Ten o'clock, sun is shining brightly, but we need to rise early, so. . .to bed.

This shows a cut away of the pipeline with a pig in it. The pig is occasionally sent down the pipe to scrape the insides dowm

I guess Roland can't read the Do Not Touch sign

Cars were beautifully restored.

Pioneer Park - replica of mining town. Went on train ride and also ate at a Salmon Bake which was a buffet of salmon, prime rib and baked cod. Delicious
