Shel: Just a short jaunt of around 60 miles this morning. Got two nice spots in Savage River Campground within Denali National Park. Went to the visitor's center to find the best veiwing of Denali - was told the South Viewing spot - started heading down there until we realized it was 100 miles each way from the park entrance. Can back and watched some movies at the visitor's center, did a little shopping, and returned to the campsite. Had a very nice Mexican dinner :) : Spent the day getting the lay of the land and searching for which mountain was Denali. We still don't know but maybe we will after tomorrow when we go on our tour. Saw movies at Visitor's Center featuring the animals in Denali as well as what to do when hiking and finding them close by. What to do if it's a grizzly or just a brown bear -- back away, make noise, lie down and play dead, fight back, spray with bear spray. It was very informative, but under panic conditions, I would be confused. Only easy one was a wolf, in which case you yell bad wolf to scare him away.! So we won't be hiking! |
