| I woke up in: | Westford, MA | I'm going to sleep in: | Salamanca, NY |
| It's a long story. We went to the North Eastern Area rally in Herkimer, NY. On the way home, about 50 miles from Herkimer a passing motorist told me to pull over. I discovered smoke coming from the front left trailer wheel. We limmped off the highway and parked in front of a school where my tire fell off. The outer bearing failed and it ground the spindle on the axle. I had new bearings with me, but not a new axle. Being Sunday, there was no help. I have Coach Net ( a towing service ) since it was off the road and not an emergency they couldn't find anyone to tow it. Spent most of Monday lining up a place to fix it and trying to get it towed. Finally just let the axle hang and towed it 2 miles to a repair shop. Left it to be repaired and we went home. Bennett trailers did a great fixing it and did a very timely repair. I was able to pick it up 1 week after dropping it off. New axle, hubs, and brakes. Fast forward to picking it up. Left Westford early, picked up the trailer and was back on the road by 10:30. The only event on the trip worth mentioning is that on route 88 I crossed over Sheldon Road! Otherwise the trip to Salamanca and te Allegany State Park was good. I got to the park and found I had reserved a site in a different area about 15 miles away. Got there and realized it was too far off the highway and went back to the Red House area for a site thinking it would be closer to the highway and therefore have cell service - WRONG!. But here I am. Some of the 'kids' I went to college with may be meeting me for lunch today. |
