| We woke up in: | Camp Verde, AZ | We're going to sleep in: | Santa Fe, NM |
| Today's trip was about 440 miles, but it had a first for me, we went through a hail storm! Down to 20 MPH in Albuquerque. I don't think it did any damage to the truck or camper. I haven't gone up on the camper roof yet to check it out. It took about 9 hours with a few stops for gas, lunch and a slow ride during the hail storm. Geni: We left early and drove without any concerns, noticing again the miles and miles of undeveloped land as well as seeing a few trains with 50 to 100 box cars slowly making their way through the countryside. The open sky went from blue to blue and gray and as we were about an hour away from the campground, it started to rain. I was excited to see a pretty rainbow and soon after the rain turnd to hail. The driving was terrible. I wanted us to move under a bridge, but there were already cars that were stopped there. Other cars just stopped by the side of the road. It was really a tense time, but Shel did a great job. We kept following behind a truck and hoped that everyone else was being careful as well. The traffic going in the opposite direction was completely stopped as we drove by. Luckily we got off at an exit and the hail did not follow us. It was pretty scary. |
