| We woke up in: | Memphis, TN | We're going to sleep in: | Memphis TN |
| We had a busy day today. We first toured the Sun Record Studio. The we took a tour of Graceland. Finally we headed to Beale Street for dinner. Geni: Sun Records was such an interesting place and historic as well. We had seen the play, Million Dollar Quartet which was set at Sun Records, so it was fun to actually visit there. The tour guide was so informative and upbeat. Then we went to the Peabody Hotel (our Texas neighbors mentioned it) to see the ducks in the fountain. Like all things, this bit of tourist history was not quite what I was expecting, but still glad we went. Graceland was also not what I expected. So developed, so Disney-like, so touristy. I guess there are so many people who come, that they have to be so built up and so organized, but it was surprising to me. Also, I found Graceland to be rather sad because Elvis was such an icon and yet his life, and members of his family turned out to be pretty tragic. |
