Shel: What a busy day. Started out rainy and we headed down to Bowling Green, about 70 miles south of here. We kind of rushed down as we felt time was a little tight, we had to get to an 11:30 tour after visiting the Corvette Museum. After arriving at the museum, we found it to be in a differnt time zone and we had an extra hour. Very nice museum, they had many of their cars on display including several that fell into the sinke hole (some of those not restored). Then we took a tour of the Corvette assembly plant - great tour, but no pictures allowed. We took a hike at the Lost River Caves and along the way went into a butterfly pavillion. On the return trip, we gassed up at $2.02.9 :). We tried to see Abraham Lincoln's birthpace and house where he spent his youth. One was closed for the day. The other closed for reconstruction. Headed into Elizabeth town for the Thursday evening historical walk. Met in downtown and got an excellent narrated tour by about 10 people. Today was just over 200 miles of travel :) Geni: Shel pretty much covered everything. He actually remarked how much he enjoyed the corvette museum and plant. I was surprised to find it all very interesting myself. The tour brought us right on the floor as we saw the different stages of the cars being assembled. Each car is specialized according to customer or dealer specifications. Also, you can build your own engine and have a plate put on the engine with your name. Brad Paisley was in last week to watch and maybe assist with the engine for his new corvette. Great morning, but the afternoon was not that impressive. Lost River Caves wasn't much, especially since boat tour was cancelled due to damn breaking. Also, we drove all over to see monuments for Abraham Lincoln and they were all closed for different reasons. But evening made up for it as we went on a walking tour in the town we were staying in. Different characters enacted stories about the town's history. They really were enjoyable.
