Shel: We worke up early and actually hit the road about 8. We took the old Tamiami Trail throught the Evergaldes and stopped for an air boat ride / tour. Finally got to Tampa at about 5:45

I was in Florida in 1958 on a trip with my parents. We were on the Tamiami Trail and I wanted to go on an Airboat ride. But for whatever reason, my father wouldn't stop. So here we are 53 years later and I finally got my trip on an air boat.

Tomorrow we will go to Busch Gardens. Saturday we will start for New Orleans!

Geni: Said goodby to lovely Key West. Long driving day up the coast for Shel, but we cut it up by driving through the Everglades and going on an air boat at a place called Wootens. The ride was great fun!! We flew through the water, stopping from time to time for the guide to tell us that the National Park blocked off some of the trails that they ordinarily ride through, it was too hot for alligators to surface, and that there are lots of snakes in the swamps!! I'm so glad I got to ride in an air boat, but I am sure if we took a regular boat, we might have seen some wildlife!! In new campground -- no beautiful view, no more sunrise and sunsets!!
