Shel: Geni is busy watcing Dancing with the Stars, so you are stuck with me! This campground sounds more impressive than it is, but it is close to Savannah.. Left the campground in Charleston this morning. Gassed up, gas is only about 3.25 per gallon around here - cheap - yeah right :) We stopped at Camping World on the way down. It seems my generator won't run the A/C on this camper, so I was looking for a 'hard start kit' which of course they didn't have it. So I asked them to move a vent fan from one vent to another, left the trailer and went into Savannah. When we returned they did not have time to do the move. We went to buy some other stuff there, but they didn't have that either - Just struck out there. While we were in Savannah, we went to the visitor's center and then on a 90 minute tour of the town. The tour really took 2 hours :) They showed us many of the highlights of town and the many squares in town, Geni: Historic Savannah is beautifulyt designed - over 20 squares (parks) surrounded by historic houses and buildings. Every neighborhood has their own lovely park - some with monuments or fountains. The people here have put alot of effort in keeping restoration a big concern. The tour guide really talked up Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which were both filmed in Savannah. Midnight actually was a book first, written about a murder that happened here. I had previously read it and seen the movie, but I should have reviewed it so I could recognize the places and people the guide was talking about. |

These oaks grow to be 600 years old and this one is about 300. They are deciduous, but keep their leaves until the new leaves force the old ones off |
