Said goodby to Washington, DC and Susan's gracious hospitality and headed for the Outerbanks, NC. Pretty overcast skies, but caught only a short rainfall in the seven hours it took to get here (including stopping to eat lunch, food shop and get gas. Driving down the Outbank was like driving through cape cod (however, with wider roads). But the shopping areas were left behind and the straight road became pretty desolate except for dunes and shrubs, but no view of the water. We didn't have to worry about a site at the campgrounds because there are only about six campers here. that's the good news and the bad news!! It's great to not have to deal with crowds, and yet it's weird to be in an empty tourist area. The campsite is beautiful. Unfortunately the mosquitoes are on the attack at night! We managed to walk over the dunes and see the view, but as I type, it is pouring out!! It's cozy in the camper, but I hope it stops by tomorrow!! Weather has been perfect so far.
