Geni: Today was a travel day and we got about 3/4's of the way to the US border (Michigan) when Shel said we have a problem. Turned out it was a big problem, and, deja vu, the tow truck was needed. Of course Shel tried to fix it himself, hoping that it would give us time to get to Michigan but as we left the service area the problem didn't go away. Shel backed up the truck and camper along the shoulder back to the center! he did a great job driving about 1/4 mile BACKWARDS to get back to a safe place! The tow truck, as in our trip to San Diego, towed both the camper and the truck. This time, we were towed to a campground and we were dropped off with the camper and the truck went on to be fixed. So . ., many bucks later, we hope to rent a car tomorrow, see the sights near Detroit and have the truck's transmission fixed by friday so we can continue west -- with some modifications. Shel: This is what we commonly refer to in the business as an unscheduled stop. We are staying in Windsor, ON and planned to be in Monroe Michigan. Seems the camper was delivered by a flat bed while the truck continues on the trip to the transmission repair shop. |
