Shel: Woke up and contemplated the shudder in the tranmission on the 1-2 shift. Decided to take it into a tranmission place in Traverse City - there they found a missing spring in the accumulator. All fixed. We were then on our way to St. Ignace where tomorrow we will take the ferry to Mackinac Island. Geni: Finally (and hopefully) the problem is fixed and we (mostly Shel) can stop worrying about it. We spent a few hours in a transmission place and the guy finally figured it out -- it was a mini-miracle! We drove through lots of touristy towns to this place. Travelling late August/September is great because everyone pretty much has gone home, but it is also weird coming into tourist areas and having it be a bit of a ghost-town-like feeling. We decided to eat dinner out and went to a nice place where I had the local fish -- it is called whitefish and I was wondering if it is like our cod. I'll have to see if I can find out - they also had lake trout which I did not try. It was a restaurant(the galley) on the lake and the food was really good and reasonably priced. It's a slow day for pics! |
