Sheldon and Geni's 2013 Camping Trip
Today is: August 29
We woke up in: Munising, MI We're going to sleep in: Munising, MI

Shel: I am guessing that we will not have wi-fi or cell service for the next couple of days, so the updates will be when we get to them.

Geni: Today was a total water day. We went to Miners Castle which is one of the few places on Pictured Rocks Cliffs that you can get to easily by land. There were also the Miners Falls nearby. Then we decided to go to 12 mile beach to see the many colored rocks that are on the beach. Only thing was it took about 40 minutes down a two lane highway going to no-where (there were few houses and mostly no signs of civilization - no cell phone service - I was worried if anything happened to the truck). Along the way, we took a side road to a camp ground near the beach which was even more scarier because it was so desolate. It always seems so much longer when you don't know where you are going. We drove the long windy road, and then decided not to explore that area. Back on the road, we finally got to 12 mile beach. I just love the clear, beautiful water of these great lakes (this one is still Lake Superior.) I played in the water for a while and Shel found a shady spot.

On the way home we saw some great waterfalls. We have been seeing signs for Pasties (pahsties) in Michigan, so tonight we decided to try them. They are a something like a pot pie (without the gravy). They were ground meat or turkey with vegetables in a baked crust. They were ok. Shel found us a campsite (which was hard since they are reserved for Labor Day Weekend's last hurrah) so we are off tomorrow to Minnesota. Hopefully we will still be able to communicate.
