Sheldon and Geni's 2011 Camping Trip
Today is: June 14
We are in: Morganton, NC

We rolled our asses out of bed around 7:30. Nice campground, just south of the start of Skyline Drive. You have to go through a farm yard (on a paved road) to get to it. Got the camper ready and hit the road.

Our first stop (for gas and to make sure the wheels were still on the trailer) was in New Market, VA. Evidently there is a Civil War Battleground and Museum there. So we spent some time there watching a movie and then wandering the grounds.

Our next stop was to be the Natural Bridge in (are you ready for this) Natural Bridge, VA. It was VERY commercial and you had to pay $19 each to see the bridge. Yeah, there was other stuff included, but it wasn't anything we cared about. So we hit the road again. Stops for food, gas etc and we wound up here, at the Walmart Hilton

Geni: Yah, back at another WalMart -- he is really getting too comfortable at these places!! But, tomorrow we will be at a campsite near the wedding venue. it seems there was a memorable battle in New Marketl -- we got off the road quite by accident and found this place. It is really dedicated to the young cadets of Virginia Military Inst. (VMI) who fought this battle as inexperienced, young cadets. The 45 min. movie was heartbreaking, as both north and south had to march miles before they got to the battlegrounds and then they just shoot back and forth at each other with little or no barriers protecting them.

Spent the rest of the day driving which was probably a good idea as finally we are in North Carolina. Tomorrow, we will drive a couple more hours to get to the wedding.
