Sheldon and Geni's 2010 Camping Trip
Today is: October 10
We are in: Walmart - again - Cottonwood, AZ

We toured Frank Lloyd Wright's Scottsdale, AZ home called Taliesin West. It was amazing. It was built into the mountainside using local materials. Wright combined geometric designs with building material that complemented the surroundings. His buildings sloped along with the shape of the land and he used stones from the mountains around his home. His furniture also reflected the japanese culture which he admired. Will put together pics of Wright's house.

Then we drove to Arcosanti, a community envisioned by a guy named Solari who penned the word arcology which is architecture and ecolocy. His dream city would hold 5,000 in 15 acres instead of suburbia which is 5,000 people live in 500 acres. Coincidentally, he was a student of Wright's and unfortunately, his community seems to be dragging along. But it is a fascinating concept.

We drove to Sedona later in the afternoon and found ourselves in a madhouse!! We forgot it was Columbus Day Weekend and there were no available campsites. There were traffic jams, lots of people and a place too commercialized. We went to reliable Walmart in a surrounding town and will regroup for tomorrow.
