Sheldon and Geni's 2010 Camping Trip
Today is: October 12
We are in: Grand Canyon, Mather Campground

Wow! I finally am at the Grand Canyon. That was my first impression when I got my first glimpse! My second thought was wow - it really is big!! We spent the day walking along the Hermit's Rest Route. We walked about 4 miles in all, taking the shuttle to that route. You can jump on and off the shuttle whenever you want, so we walked most of the way and rode in between. We met lots of interesting people along the way -- from Hawaii, Michigan, California and one couple who were originally from MA, but live in Florida now. We even watched a little girl pull out her loose front tooth on the bus!!

People keep telling us places we MUST visit in this area, so we may never make it back!! Speaking of making it back, we cannot figure out how to get back to the campground. This place is very confusing and there are not enough signs directing us where to go. We think we may have finally figured it out, but won't know until tomorrow.

We went to Yavapai Point to watch the sunset. There were lots of people there and plenty on the edge of the cliffs, so it was exciting and scary at the same time. I am trying to keep myself pretty much away from the edge for obvious reasons!
