This morning we were able to sneak in the craft fair before we went on our way. Going down the mountain from Estes Park, a black cloud appeared through the mountain tops and changed the sunny, beautiful day into a gloomy, drizzly one. But as we headed to Wyoming, the sun came out again. That was the only good thing about the drive to Wyoming. They say Nebraska is flat and boring all the way through, but Wyoming is the worst. We travelled Rt. 80 up hill all the way from Cheyenne to Rt. 287 and then on to Riverton -- we travelled around 324 miles in all. The truck never spent as much time in passing gear. There was practically nothing to see on the road -- just cattle from time to time. At times there were no cities, no farm houses, few telephone poles -- just rolling hills and mountains on the horizon. We saw a couple of big wind farms in Wyoming, a big oil refinery (Sinclair) and a magnificent desert view (which we didn't take a good photo of). When we stopped at this desert spot, we met a young girl who was there alone. We started talking to her and found out that she was originally from Jaffrey, NH, now living in Wyoming. It's like we are being drawn to people from New England!! We did notice that there were alot of firecracker ads alongside the road which must be a big thing in Wyoming. The ride up was really long even though it was our shortest mileage day!! Although the terrain changed, the ride itself was straight road most of the way. there were alot of trucks on the road at first, but as we drove there was lots of nothing including cars. I think that was the most noticeable thing -- Wyoming has lots of unpopulated land. We are snuggled up for the night at Walmart Superstore!! Tomorrow Jackson Hole.
