Sheldon and Geni's 2010 Camping Trip
Today is: September 23
We are in: American Fork, UT - Walmart superstore

Today was the day you just don't want to happen when you are on vacation, especially when you are going cross country -- the truck broke down!! We said goodby to Yellowstone, crossed into Montana for just a short while and then into Idaho, hoping to get through Salt Lake City, UT on our way to Bryce National Park.

Driving through Idaho, the truck broke down and we had to call AAA. A nice guy came within a 1/2 hour to tow the truck back to Malad. When the state trooper pulled up to check out the situation, the guy greeted the trooper by name -- eerie!! We went back to the town and hung around until the truck was fixed. The town consisted of one main street with quaint storefronts. The festivities for Halloween had already begun with Alfred Hitchcock theme music piped through the streets for the "witches night out" sponsored by a local store.

When the guy couldn't readily come up with a good place to grab a bite, we decided to just eat what we had in the camper and make up the time! Luckily the damage was not as great as it could have been and we were back on the road 4 hours later and drove another 3 to make up our time. Ended up in a great shopping mall in Utah -- too bad we'll be on the road before the stores open.

Shell's comments: We blew a transmission line and had tran fluid all over everything. Even had a little fire start which I quickly extinguished. Three hours and $200 later we were back on the road - lucky, as damage could have been more severve. All is running fine now!. Well we did get past Salt Lake City, which is a very large metropolitan area!.
