Today was a travel day from Utah to Nevada. The GPS sent us north on I-15, then I-84 and the south west on 30. We got onto 30 and there was a sign 'No services for 102 miles' No problem had enough gas. Got to the services at 102 miles and they had a power failure - no gas. 55 more miles to Wells on route I-80. BTW route 30 is desolate. Wound up putting the gas I had in my can in the bed into the truck and just barely made it to Wells. Did 591 miles today. Passed a station later when I had just under half a tank. There had been stations every 10 - 15 miles, so no problem. Yeah right. Next station as I pulled in the low fuel warning came on. As we left this station and I did the turn to get out I heard a twang. Didn't see any damage so I headed to the campground. Thought about what it could be. Checked when I got here and the rear spring hanger on the left side - one leg broke. I think I have someone lined up to weld on a new one. Then the quick pin on the front landing gear came out of it's spring. I can live with it if I have to but will look for a new one while here. But other than that an uneventful trip LOL Geni: We are realizing that Shel drove for about 10 hours today and I got to look at the scenery! It is most amazing to drive hours at a time and not see people, houses, even animals! Occasionally there is a ranch or few buildings or some cows. Having come this far, it is still hard to believe there is so much uninhabited land from Utah to Nevada, before we got to the cities, And when we get into the cities, I get anxious, but Shel does a great job maneuvering. He is still happy even though there always seems to be some problem coming up, so, I can't complain! |
I loved the clouds sitting on top of the mountains (cattle grazing) |
|
Seems like you could just touch the clouds - just sitting over the countryside |
|
We figured this was a bridge for animals to walk over the highway since the ramps were so slanted |
A town in the distance |
