Sheldon and Geni's 2019 out west
Today is: September 29 (39601)
We woke up in: Elsinor, CA We're going to sleep in: Joshua Tree NP

There is no cell service in the park so we're a day late. We got to the park realtively early and had a hell of a time trying to fit the camper into the site, not fun. Also we were unable to put the slides out. But anyway, we were successful and went and toured the park. The documentation for this park is lacking, tour panflets were supposed to be at the beginning of the trails and were not there. There were stops along the road that were not on the map nor were they described in the literature. This seems to be another park that is better for hikers than people driving around to see the sights.

Geni: Joshua Tree was a good park for the one day. As Shel said, it seemed less organized than others and we were disappointed when the brochures that explained certain areas were not there. There are two terrains in the park, one with the cactus and one side with the Joshua Trees. This park is part Mohave Desert and part Colorado Desert and definitely looked like a desert. But the rock formations were incredible. We walked a path to see an old dam and I pretended I was a pioneer walking the trails! It felt like any cowboy movie you've ever seen. And, I thought we were lost at one point, but Shel was certain where the path went. (Luckily some guys came by and they confirmed his direction!)
